CrosSFit Kids

Little Athletes

SF CrossFit's Little Athletes is a multifaceted, challenging, socially interactive strength and conditioning program for school-age kids. Young athletes learn proper functional movements at an early age in order to facilitate a lifelong commitment to fitness and sport. Classes are structured to give athletes progressive training in gymnastics and strength training as well as an increase in self-esteem and confidence.

Ages 5-6
This class lays the foundation for all future movements that our young athletes will encounter, whether it be sport-specific or fitness related. Athletes learn body awareness, coordination, and the fundamentals of gymnastics and strength training including forward/backward rolls, headstands, squatting, push-ups, and sit-ups. A sense of personal accomplishment is encouraged, as well as positive group interaction.

Ages 7-9
Athletes learn more complex movements in addition to individual skill building. This class is structured to provide our athletes with a continuation of fundamental movements, but also introduces more dynamic skills such as handstand forward rolls, different squatting/pressing/deadlifting modalities, and pull-ups. More partner and team building drills are included to create a sense of community.

Ages 10-14
Once fundamental movements can be performed consistently we expose our athletes to loaded movements. Intensity is increased and the focus is shifted from fundamentals to more complex skills that translate directly to sport. Athletes learn back extension rolls, Olympic Weightlifting, and handstand push-ups, with a focus on personal goal setting and accomplishment.
